Using Valium for treating children less than six months is not recommended.

Dosage for managing alcohol withdrawal

  • For older adults (65 years or above)

Doctors will initially prescribe 2 mg to 2.5 mg of the medicine once or twice a day.

  • For adults (18 years or more but less 65 years)

Your doctor will initiate your treatment with 10 mg of the medicine, which you need to take within the first 24 hours; then, after your doctor will reduce your medicine dose to 5 mg, thrice to four times a day.
